Begin The Journey

1. THE CALL HOME — REMEMBERING WHAT WAS LOST

Every generation receives an invitation: to remember who we are before the world told us who to be.

I was born from the land of the /Xam — a people of stories, silence, and sky.
My ancestors, the Windvogel lineage, taught that every being carries a rhythm — a way of walking that belongs to the earth itself.

As we begin the journey home, we reconnect with our roots and the essence of who we are.

But somewhere along the way, our world forgot.
We built faster than we could feel.
We learned to produce, but not to pause.
We called it progress, but it left many of us tired, fractured, and disconnected — from each other, from the land, from our own breath.

Taking the first step to begin the journey home is vital for our healing.

I have walked in both these worlds — the ancestral and the modern — and what I have learned is this:
Wisdom does not belong to the past; it waits patiently for us to listen again.

In acknowledging our interconnectedness, we begin the journey home.

2. THE CROSSING HOME — WHERE TWO WORLDS MEET

True innovation is not about creating something new — it’s about remembering something true.

My journey has taken me from the dust of the Karoo to the corridors of universities and boardrooms.
At TSIBA and the UCT Graduate School of Business, and through dialogues with UCLA, Audencia, and global partners, I found that the questions haunting our age — about leadership, sustainability, meaning — all have ancient echoes.

The /Xam knew what modern systems thinkers are rediscovering:
That everything is connected.
That no system can thrive when it forgets its soul.

Every leader must begin the journey home to understand their role in this world.

I began to weave those worlds together — the sacred and the strategic — until a new pattern began to appear: one that could hold both heart and reason, both community and innovation.

3. THE WORK HOME — WEAVING NEW FUTURES

Leadership that values connection begins the journey home.

To truly lead, one must begin the journey home to their roots.

Embracing this truth allows us to begin the journey home effectively.

Leadership is not a title; it’s a way of belonging.

From that realization was born the Hxaro Leadership Institute — a living bridge between ancestral wisdom and modern transformation.
In the /Xam tongue, Hxaro means the exchange that keeps the world alive.
It is more than a gift — it is a rhythm of reciprocity, a sacred economy of care.

Through the Institute, I work with individuals, leaders, and organizations to reimagine leadership as relationship.
We design systems that are not only efficient, but alive — where innovation, empathy, and purpose coexist.

Our work includes:

  • Leadership Design – transforming cultures and strategies through Indigenous intelligence and systems thinking.
  • Experiential Learning & Mentoring – shaping leaders who learn from the land, from service, and from one another.
  • Consulting & Speaking – guiding organizations to rediscover their purpose, power, and humanity in a changing world.

4. THE INVITATION HOME— YOUR TURN TO REMEMBER

The world does not need more heroes. It needs humans who remember.

This journey is not only mine.
It belongs to every person who has felt the quiet ache of disconnection — in their work, their families, their institutions, their communities.

It belongs to those who know there must be another way — a way to lead without losing oneself, to grow without destroying, to succeed without forgetting what matters.

Through Rites of Passage, Wisdom Circles, and Leadership Retreats, I invite you to step into a journey of remembering — to restore your sense of wholeness, to awaken your organization’s soul, and to reconnect purpose with practice.

Let us remember together as we begin the journey home.

When we remember who we are, we begin to heal the world we create.

5. THE VISION HOME — RESTORING THE RIGHT RELATIONSHIP

The future will belong to those who can restore the right relationship between people, purpose, planet, and reciprocal abundance.

My work — through the Hxaro Leadership Institute and partnerships across Africa and beyond — is to help awaken this remembering.
To help individuals lead with integrity.
To help companies act with conscience.
To help communities rise again in dignity.

The systems we’ve built can still serve us — if we learn to listen.
And leadership can still heal — if we choose to live it differently.

Our commitment to purpose becomes clearer when we begin the journey home.

Listening to our hearts allows us to begin the journey home more meaningfully.

This is our time — to lead with wisdom, to build with compassion, and to walk together toward wholeness.

In this way, we can truly begin the journey home together.

Join me as we begin the journey home and explore these opportunities.
